Bird masks!

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying the beginnig of summer!

This Friday is our summer concert at school and one of the songs we’re singing from our French and English repertoire is “Kookaburra”, an Australian Folk song. So we decided that all the kids should wear little bird masks and be kookaburra birds! THEY LOOK SO CUTE!

Wanna make one? You’ll need:

★ paper plates
★ feathers
★ construction paper
 pipe cleaners
  white glue
 scissors
 ★ crayons
★ hot glue gun

Step 1: Cute the plate in half and cut out two eye holes.
Step 2: add a beak!
Step 3: decorate!
Add 2 pipe cleaners on either side (with hot glue) and
adjust to the child’s head! You’re done!

Oh! and here’s what a real Kookaburra bird looks like…

Here’s the Kookaburra song!

Kookaburra Song Lyrics

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree
Merry merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra
Gay your life must be!

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree
Eating all the gum drops he can see
Stop Kookaburra, stop Kookaburra
Save some there for me!

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree

Counting all the monkeys he can see

Laugh, Kookaburra laugh, Kookaburra
That’s not a monkey, that’s me!
