Red & White Pennant banners

Hi there! I was recently contacted by a shop owner in Toronto who wanted some pennant banners for a Flea Market they’re putting on this Sunday: @hogtownflea. I thought he wanted one or two banners to decorate for the market…. but I ended up making 20! Oh my gosh! So needless to say, I did a lot of sewing during baby’s naps/sleeps and got it done in 3 days! Woot! They wanted an old-school circus vibe and asked for some red and canvas-ish colours. Check it out! It looks so good! I hope I get to see some picks of them up!

I endded up cutting out 600 triangles for 300 flags (the large size from this template) and using lots of bias tape for the rope. I used pinking sheers to do the cutting to avoid any fraying and then stiched the two sides (not the top) so that the flags where nice and thick and the patterns visible on both sides. Here’s a little tutorial I made 12 years ago.. one of my first! Then I stiched them in the bias tape fold to make them into banners. In total, I made TWENTY 12 foot banners with 15 flags each. It took me twice as long to make as I thought, about 8 hours to complete… but I think it’ll look amazing at the flea market above all the vendors! I wish I could go!

I love using bias tape and just sliding the pennants in the middle. I just do one straight stitch and voilĂ !
So many triangles!! All individually sewn and ready to be turned into banners!
Packed up and ready to be mailed!
Go check them out if you happen to be in Toronto!
